Project Description
UK seating manufacturers CPS Seating was engaged by contractor ARC Group London to provide lecture theatre seating for a collaborative learning space for the Imperial College London in their brand new innovative Scale Space inside the White City Campus.
Collaborative lecture theatres are becoming increasingly popular in education spheres due to new teaching and learning methods (including collaborative learning and flipped classrooms/lectures).
Overcoming the challenges of COVID-19, the learning space was designed alongside PenwardenHale Architects via the use of virtual meetings. The collaborative bench seating system and CPS’s unique waterfall desking were chosen to suit the needs of the university.
A timber tiering system was installed in June 2020, followed by the bench seating installation in October. 90 seat spaces were installed in total, with 4 wheelchair spaces.
The seating included provision of cableways and cut-outs for desk-mounted USB charging points.
