Project Description

CPS Manufacturing Co worked with the University of Birmingham to deliver two flagship lecture and collaborative rooms from concept to completion.

The two flat floored rooms had tiered flooring systems installed in a mix of timber and steel.

The large, traditional lecture hall had 500 Type lecture theatre seats installed, our top of the range lecture seat.

The smaller, collaborative room had 250 seats installed with a combination of the Inova turn and learn seats and the Type seats. The combination of these two seats have been uniquely designed to maximise collaboration between students.

From the outset of the project, CPS Manufacturing Co worked through intricate levels of detail and specification with both the University and BDP architects to ensure that the final result delivered were flagship spaces on campus.

The right specification of seating systems, desking, fabrics and lighting all played a major part in the decision making and design process.

An excellent onsite installation was experienced thanks to good communication with Willmott Dixon.

The final result achieved in delivering this awesome £24m new build teaching and learning campus is one of the most striking educational based projects that CPS have delivered in their 54 year history.

A special thanks goes to Svetlana Solomonova and Joan Kerr of BDP, Rob Morgan and David Sherridan of Willmott Dixon.

Credit for the amazing photography goes 100% to Nick Caville who specialises as an architectural photographer.
