Cardiff University Turn and Learn Seating
In 2015, Cardiff University approached CPS Manufacturing Co about installing lecture theatre seating. In total 1382 seats were installed into six buildings across three campuses in Cardiff. CPS Manufacturing Co worked with main contractor Knox and Wells as well as architects Boyes Rees Architects on this project.
1,320 Vario seats were installed into 10 lecture theatres at the university. Each room had multiple colours, seat widths and back heights. All of the desks had USB power and data modules and required cable channels to be routed into the underside of the desks and be co-ordinated with the frame positions for running cables and avoiding induction loops in the floor.
One of the lecture theatres had Harvard Style lecture theatre seating installed. Another lecture theatre had seating with upholstered modesty panels that looked continuous compared to standard modesty panels that have visible breaks from one panel to the next.
62 Inova turn and learn seats were installed in the Trevethick lecture theatre hall in the Queen’s Building. The Inova turn and learn seating help students and colleagues interact effectively and encourage collaborative learning.
